Hello folks, this weekend we finally saw the Minecraft movie with my son, and I would like to share my thoughts. I didn’t have high expectations, but what I saw was, at least from my point of view, a big disaster. I knew that the movie had bad reviews from movie critics, but this was not a problem for me. I like many movies which has a low rating, but they have charm for me (from game-based games for example Sonic movies or Super Mario), however, this movie is horrible.
In 2025 we can make visually beautiful movies and Minecraft is no exception, so in this area, I enjoy it. The storyline, dialogs even the music, it’s a completely different story. Look, Minecraft as a game does not have any storyline (as far as what I played) so, creators of the movie have blank scene to make an interesting story, but no. They decide to make a simple storyline, so weak and over stupid characters and nonsense dialogs. I feel like they say: “OK, Minecraft is hit, so it will sell even with the stupid simple story so why bother.”
I didn’t find anything interesting in this movie besides the visuals …. I know I’m not the target group (kids are), but why Disney or Dreamworks can make entertaining stories for kids that are enjoyable even for adults, and WB not? Or maybe, it's begin of the era where visuals will be enough measure for movies, who knows, but I think, this movie is bad.
